Shopping portal MiBus conducted a survey recently that showed that the overwhelming numbers of women are open to an increase in mobile, online shopping. The survey of 1,600 customers found that 94% use their mobile device to surf the Internet, even when they are at home and have access to laptops or desktop computers.
The vast majority of them log on to Facebook and Twitter to keep in touch and shop and almost all said they would be lost without their cell phones.
Three quarters admitted that they comfort shop and purchase items that if they were honest they didn’t really need and most were agreeable to receiving up to date promotions and special offers on their mobile devices.
Mark Bamber, MiBuy’s CEO said that their survey proved that women were already active participants in the mobile shopping revolution and keen to explore the new technology. It also supports the company’s belief that retailers need to consider how they contact and interface with their consumers. Bamber pointed out that current thought is that women are only just turning on to mobile technology, when the truth is they are already eager participants.
The survey also found that 85% of women used their mobile internet service on a daily basis, 70% expected to become more reliant on the service in the future and two-thirds liked receiving coupons and offers on the cell phones. Over 90% of respondents said they liked being up to date with technology and were always on the look out for a bargain.
