E-commerce has been dominated by the big two over the last decade; Ebay and Amazon, who have led the way in internet shopping and online marketing. The emergence however of social media, mobile shopping and accessible technology mean there is a change coming.
Recommendation technologies bought about a big break though in online commerce, the ability for customers to comment on goods and services and the use companies make of this user data has set the trend. Systems like Baynote that track and analyze customer’s movements; timing and product interest are commonplace nowadays.
A recent survey of travel agents found that 47.8% would be dedicating a greater budget to social media marketing by adding improved Facebook pages, Twittering and enhancing the company blogs and RSS feeds. Mobile commerce is another growth area likely to continue, although still an emerging technology, customers are increasingly happy to purchase small inexpensive items while on the move. Commentators feel that once the market becomes happy with mobile payment systems and remote billing then e-commerce on the move will really take off.
While Ebay and Amazon still remain the main players in this area of the market, daily updates in technology, increased use of social media and customer recommendation software are changing our habits. This is leading to smaller sites and mobile systems gaining increased traction in retail practice. Web designers and telecommunications engineers look likely to be having an increasing impact on shopping habits in the coming years.

Hi - really great website you have created. I enjoyed reading this posting. I did want to write a remark to tell you that the design of this site is very aesthetically delightful. I used to be a graphic designer, now I am a copy editor in chief for a merchandising firm. I have always enjoyed playing with computing machines and am trying to learn computer code in my spare time (which there is never enough of lol).
