There is a lot of advice about what to do and not to do when setting up a business website, so what features do designers at Forescene recommend you include. Here are ten features and pages that customers will expect to find when visiting most websites.
- Clean, fresh and well designed home page.
- Personal details page. Who you are, where, what and why?
- FAQ, frequently asked questions. Save yourself the time of having to repeat commonly sought after answers, just provide them in an easy to read format.
- Contact page, somewhere they can leave a message, or drop you an email with orders, questions or compliments.
- Map, if you are expecting people to visit you, include a map of your location, GPS co-ordinates and directions. Make sure directions are easily understood, if they get lost, you’ll be blamed.
- Product or service information. While the home page should have a basic outline of your company, there should be more detailed product information pages further in.
- Blog, newsletter or updates page. Somewhere you can communicate with your customers, tell them about developments and new products, discounts and events.
- Comments area, whether within your blogs or on a forum, allow customer interaction. Build a rapport with your clients.
- History page, make yourself human, tell people about yourself. Customers respond better to people not machines.
- Sales point. If your in business its to sell something, information, services a product. Have a page where your visitors can easily purchase directly from you, either buying online or submitting and order form.
